Ronald E. Newth O.D.

Ronald E. Newth, O.D. was born in Lynn, Massachusetts. He attended elementary and secondary schools in Massachusetts, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Illinois and Pennsylvania. He graduated high school as a National Merit Scholarship finalist, National Honor Society Scholarship finalist, and the recipient of the Bausch and Lomb Science Award. His undergraduate studies were at Western Reserve University in Ohio, and the University of Arizona. Dr Newth is the recipient of a B.S. and O.D. degree, graduating from the Massachusetts College of Optometry, cum laude. He was honored as the outstanding student clinician in his class and received the Beta Sigma Kappa academic award.

Dr. Newth has served as President of the Central Arizona Optometric Society, and holds membership in the Arizona and American Optometric Associations and the American Optometric Foundation.

Dr. Newth actively participates in community affairs. He has served on boards of the Mesa Y.M.C.A. and Mesa United Way, and is past-president of the East Mesa Kiwanis Club, the Mesa Rotary Club and the Sister Cities Association of Mesa. He is presently chairman of the KaiPing, China, sister city committee for Mesa Sister Cities, and is the chairman of the Wheelchairs for Peace project for both Mesa Rotary Club and Mesa Sister Cities.

Dr. Newth is married to Joan, a former Mesa City Councilmember, and Citizen of the year in Mesa in 1992. They have a daughter and son and two grandchildren.

In 1974, Dr. Newth established his present practice, the University Eye Center, at 1809 E. University Drive, in Mesa.
