Benjamin C. Yanofsky, OD, FAAO
Dr. Yanofsky was an associate in a successful New Jersey practice before moving west and teaming with Dr. Ronald Newth. A Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, he completed a rigorous candidacy process, submitting extensive written work and passing an oral examination before a panel of leading optometrists and vision specialists. Only one of every 10 optometric physicians has passed these comprehensive tests, and Dr. Yanofsky is proud to number himself among this select group.

In 2012 Dr. Yanofsky achieved the Diplomat designation from the American Board of Optometry.
Dr. Yanofsky received his undergraduate Science degree from the Pennsylvania State University and his optometric degree from Salus University's well-regarded Pennsylvania College of Optometry. During his externship training, he was awarded clinical honors from the Eye Institute of Philadelphia, completed a research paper on the Softperm contact lens, and was mentored by Dr. Robert Morrison, a renowned optometric pioneer, researcher, and teacher.

At Philadephia's John F. Kennedy Hospital, Dr. Yanofsky undertook a unique internship in which he completed rotations through emergency medicine, cardiology, and optometry/ophthalmology.
Dr. Yanofsky was a past board member and Vice-President of the New Jersey Academy of Optometry, where he served as Educational Seminar Chairperson. Recently, he was selected as an adjunct faculty member at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.

Recently, Dr. Yanofsky received certification for evaluation, workup, and post-operative care for a reversible alternative to LASIK surgery called the Implantable Contact Lens.

Wife Angela juggles the major role of raising their two children with her position as a vice president of an international insurance brokerage firm. The family spends extensive hours outdoors, often exploring the desert as well as hiking, swimming, and just plain relaxing.
In the community, Dr. Yanofsky is an active member of the Mesa Rotary Club and the Mesa Chamber of Commerce.
Ronald E. Newth, OD
Dr. Newth established the University Eye Center in Mesa at 1809 East University Drive in 1974, and he and his wife Joan have been prominent fixtures in the community for decades.

Lynn, Massachusetts-born Dr. Newth earned his optometric degree cum laude from the Massachusetts College of Optometry and was honored as the outstanding student clinician in his class, receiving the Beta Sigma Kappa academic award. He has served as President of the Central Arizona Optometric Society and is a member of the Arizona Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Foundation.
Community-wise, he has been on the boards of the Mesa YMCA and Mesa United Way and is past-President of the East Mesa Kiwanis Club, the Mesa Rotary Club, and the Sister Cities Association of Mesa, and chairs the Wheelchairs for Peace project for both the Rotary Club and the Sister Cities Association as well as the KaiPing, China, sister city committee for the latter group.
Dr. Newth attended elementary and secondary schools in Massachusetts, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Illinois, and Pennsylvania and graduated high school as a finalist for the National Merit Scholarship and the National Honor Society Scholarship and also received the coveted Bausch and Lomb Science Award. Dr. Newth pursued his undergraduate studies at Ohio's Western Reserve University and the University of Arizona, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree.
Joan Newth is a former Mesa City Councilmemeber and was named the city's Citizen of the Year in 1992. The couple have a daughter, a son, and two grandchildren.
